Wine pairing for the Thanksgiving dinner….is there truly a single wine that can take you seamlessly from start to finish?
Can the wine be just white, just red, or both? Is there a comprehensive Thanksgiving wine list that will give the guests plenty of options? Selecting which wines will best complement your menu, and appeal to your guests with individual taste preferences is always a bit challenging, but we will give you the necessary information to make this traditional meal
stress-free and enjoyable.
Mayra Fana was born in a small village in the Dominican Republic. Wine came to her life at a very early age, eventually became her passion, and it has never left her. She came to New York as a young woman when father had to leave the Dominican Republic for political reasons.
Mayra obtained a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from the City University of New York–CUNY, and worked as an Electrical Engineer for over 30 years. In 2015, she earned a Certification with Distinction as Sommelier from the Sommelier Society of America (SSA). Mayra joined us at Millbrook Winery during the spring of 2016. In 2017 she published a book about wine in Spanish titled “El Vino, la bebida intellectual” (Wine, The Intellectual Drink). When not working at the winery, Mayra also hosts private wine classes and wine events.
